Castlemaine Rod Shop: Driving the Future of Burnouts
The Pro Burnout Series is proud to announce Castlemaine Rod Shop as the naming rights sponsor for the 2025 season. Known as a powerhouse within the Australian automotive industry making car enthusiasts’ horsepower aspirations come true for the past 35 years, Castlemaine Rod Shop’s influence in the sport of burnouts extends beyond their name. Their expertise and dedication to the development and future of burnout competitions make them a key partner for the Series.
“Burnouts are a pillar of the Aussie motorsport scene and something that the Rod Shop crew are passionate about, whether we’re participating ourselves or supporting drivers and events across the country,” said Castlemaine Rod Shop owner and burnout competitor, Heath Waddington. “For us, the Pro Burnout Series represents the opportunity to extend that support in a more significant way and to a broader group of participants. We’re excited for what 2025 will bring for the sport of burnouts.”
Steel City Nats promoter Mandy Hartmann was excited by the calendar announcement.
“It’s a huge honour for Steel City Nats to feature in the Pro Burnout Series calendar. As our event celebrates its tenth year, it’s clear that the burnout scene continues to grow in terms of participation and professionalism, and we’re glad to be part of the series that’s leading the way.”
Bindoon Burnouts main man and Pro Burnout Series former qualifier Chris Orchard was equally keen for the 2025 Pro Burnout Series to begin.
“I’ve travelled all over the country to compete in burnout competitions and have helped to run a few myself, so I know what it takes to create something that adds value to the sport and that drivers and spectators enjoy. Bindoon Burnouts is proud to be associated with Pro Burnout Series, and we’re especially excited at the opportunity to reward up-and-comers with a shot at the big show through Wildcard qualification.”
Multi-time Pro Burnout Series event winner and driver of the renowned 1TUFHG Holden ute Wal Gersekowski added, “Having a calendar of really great events makes planning our year really easy. A Pro Burnout Series badge is a sign of a well-run event and top quality competition so we know what we’re getting when we turn up to skid.”
“Castlemaine Rod Shop’s bring a voice and vision to the sport, and have a great connection to the Burnout Community,” said Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez. “Much more than a sponsorship, Heath and the Rod Shop team are going to be a key influence on the growth of burnouts as a motorsport for years to come.”
The Best of Burnouts Across Australia and NZ
The 2025 calendar features the best burnout events across Australia and New Zealand, offering fans the opportunity to witness the ultimate showcase of raw power, skill, and style. Drivers will have multiple pathways to qualify for the Summernats finale:
- Direct Qualification: Competitors can secure their spot at each of the 19 calendar events.
- Wildcard Option: Wildcards are available at each of the direct qualification events encouraging participation from regional areas and open-class competitors.
As the grand final of the Pro Burnout Series and largest event on the calendar, Summernats operates two streams for drivers to qualify to compete at the event in January each year – direct qualification and through a wildcard program.
The Wildcard Shootout held on Thursday afternoon at Summernats gives the top three competitors one last shot to earn a spot in the Pro Class competition. Drivers who qualify during the season go directly into 30-car battle that takes place on the Friday of Summernats, from which Saturday’s 10-car final is determined. Saturday is finals day and the single competition burnout that determines the overall winner who takes home the title of Pro Burnout Series Champion as well as the $50,000 first prize.
Additional wildcard-only events will be announced as the season unfolds.
With this structure, the Pro Burnout Series provides opportunity for up-and-coming talent while maintaining the elite standard of the competition.
A Community United by Burnouts
The Pro Burnout Series is more than a name. It’s a community made up of the events, drivers, officials, judges, crew, and supporters from all over Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.
