Rods Out is a new concept in burnout events that we’ve integrated into this year’s iconic Street Machine Drag Challenge drag-and-drive spectacular
Rods Out sees the absolute cream of the Australian burnout scene going head-to-head at two competitions held in conjunction with Drag Challenge. That means spectators at Dragway at The Bend (1 November) and Heathcote Park Raceway (2 November) will get to see not only Australia’s staunchest street cars racing, but also our toughest burnout cars being put through their paces on the pad!
They’ll be competing for a share of $30,000 prize money and the chance to win one of two Pro Burnouts tickets to Street Machine Summernats 37. And the winner of Open Class at each event will score a Wildcard entry to the Last Chance Wildcard competition on the Thursday of Summernats 37.
The competition will be fierce, but to really ramp it up several notches, over 20 of the competitors will be subjecting themselves to The Grind, by competing back-to-back in both Rods Out 1 at The Bend and Rods Out 2 at Heathcote! The driver who scores the most points over four burnouts will take out The Grind, win an extra-special bespoke trophy and earn the eternal admiration of all for their display of endurance and grit.
Among the 20 cars taking on The Grind so far are Mick Brasher, Peter Grmusa, Rick Fuller, Tim Brown, Warren Gersekowski and Mark Siracusa. Not to forget Heath Waddington, who has two cars entered!
