The Saturday of Street Machine Summernats is always the most hectic, with a sellout crowed, jam-packed schedule and history to be made.

Dave Darcy took out the coveted Street Champion award in his BLUEBALLZ HJ Premier.

Frank Zammit’s XW ute dominated the elite judging, winning firsts in every category bar Top Interior, Top 10 and Top Judged – for the second year in a row.

As well as the awarding of the Rare Spares Street and PPG Supreme, for the first time ever in Summernats history, the Grand Champion driving events and awards presentation was now on the Saturday night. Adam Bickerstaff’s 1956 Ford F100 took the sword for ‘Nats 38, which you can read about here.

The Pro Burnout series had their final top 10 shootout on the Castlemaine Rod Shop burnout pad in the late afternoon, which eventuated in Chris Orchard’s BALLISTIC Holden VL taking home the win and a whopping $50,000 in cash. You can read the full story here.

There was a fresh round of inductees into the John Petersen Burnout Hall of fame, with Mick Brasher, Geoff Holder, Wal Gersekowski, Liz Gracie and Ryan Gracie all receiving jackets.

The main stage on Saturday afternoon also hosts the finals for the Fashions on The Field and Mulletfest awards, taking this circus’s best-dressed and throwing them on stage to showcase all the characters this festival brings out. Enjoy!
