The 38th Street Machine Summernats got off to a belter of a start on Thursday, with an action-packed schedule of burnouts, show cars and records being broken!
We kick off as per usual with the 12pm city cruise through Canberra, showing off our hottest entrants to the locals and punters in a sight not often seen on Australian roads.

Check out Thursday’s video below, and with burnout qualifying, live concert and plenty more happening today, it’s shaping up to be a cracker!
The Haltech Horsepower Heroes dyno cell got off to a roaring start, with Darren Portelli’s twin-turbo big-block powered HQ Holden annihilating the existing record with a 3513hp run, which you can read more about at the link below

The Precision International Skid Row has double the action this year, running two lanes side by side for the very first time. It’ll be pumping hard all weekend off Tuff Street, so if you’re in the house, make sure you get down and check it out!

When the heat and action gets all a bit much, it’s a great excuse to wander through the traders in and around the Rare Spares pavilion to check out all the new products and sweet deals on merch and parts.
We stopped in to see Precision International, Tuff Mounts, VPW Australia and Haltech, all of who have new products to showcase and killer show deals you won’t find anywhere else except here at the ‘Nats!

At 4pm – right in the heat of the near 40 degree day – the Last Chance Wildcard Shootout for the Pro Burnout series got underway on the Rod Shop pad, with over 30 cars looking to throw down in the sweltering conditions.
From the bumper field, three victors were crowned and claimed their place in today’s Pro Burnout series qualifying. Pete Thompson took the win in MY80XD, followed by Jack Alfirevich in JACKPOT, with Justin McKinnis rounding out the top three, punching their tickets into Friday’s Pro Burnout Series Qualifying.

To wrap up the already jam-packed day, we headed over to the Meguiar’s Pavilion to see the covers pulled off 23 cars in the Meguiar’s Great Uncover. We’ve got a story on part one of the unveilings here, with part two coming soon!
